The Centennial Commemoration, September 21, 2024.

• 12:10pm – Mass at St. Matthew’s Cathedral, DC.

• 1:30pm – Rededication of Monument and Unveiling of Wayside Marker

The Nuns of the Battlefield memorial was originally dedicated September 20, 1924 to honor the nurses who treated soldiers in both the Civil War and the Spanish American War.

• Cardinal Gregory celebrated the Mass in St. Matthew the Apostle Cathedral assisted by Bishop Alfred Schlert, Allentown, PA. Cardinal Gregory blessed the memorial across from the steps of St. Matthews. We then crossed the street to the memorial where the monument was rededicated and the road marker was unveiled and blessed
• We were invited by the Washington, DC LAOH to join them at the Irish Channel Restaurant for a light lunch. It was very nice.
